Can I Make Changes to My Reservation?

Can I Make Changes to My Reservation?

The guest who places a reservation for a cabin onboard The Groove Cruise will be considered that cabin’s “Lead Guest” and is the “owner” of the reservation. The Lead Guest is therefore solely responsible for initiating or authorizing changes to the reservation, and must agree in writing to any changes made to the reservation, by emailing CaptainSupport@WhetTravel.com

We allow name changes as long as the Lead Guest or one original name remains on the reservation.

Guest NAME changes can be made up until 30 days prior to sailing (if allowed by the cruise line), and will be assessed a $50 administrative fee per person/per name change. All name changes within 30 days of sailing will be assessed a $100 administrative fee per person/per name change.

All guest CABIN NUMBER changes can be made up until 30 days prior to sailing (if allowed by the cruise line), and will be assessed a $50 administrative fee per cabin number change. All cabin number changes within 30 days of sailing will be assessed a $100 fee.

The Lead Passenger is not allowed to change their name within the reservation. At least one original and/or lead guest name must remain on the reservation. If all original guests cancel, this is considered a full cancellation without refund, and name changes will not be allowed.

In all cases of name changes, the NEW guest must make full payment. Once that payment has been made, then the applicable amounts paid by the ORIGINAL guest will be refunded directly to the original guest, less the cost of the name change fee.

Cabin Occupancy Changes: Rates are based on the number of people in your cabin. Changes in occupancy will result in a rate increase or decrease depending on the type of change.

Your cabin number is subject to change without notice at the discretion of the cruise line.

No changes of any kind (name or cabin) will be accepted within two weeks of sailing.

Please note: Baptismal papers and hospital certificates of birth are not acceptable. Voter registration cards or Social Security cards are not considered proof of citizenship.

For more information, a complete list of WHTI-compliant documents or to obtain a passport application, visit www.travel.state.gov

When and how will I receive my Groove Cruise “tickets”?

Within 30 days of sailing, you’ll receive an email with your cruise line booking/reservation number and instructions on how to complete your online check-in and print your boarding pass. Each guest in your cabin will need to complete the cruise line’s mandatory online check-in at least one week prior to sailing. Your boarding pass is your “ticket” for boarding and must be printed and presented at check-in at the terminal.

Why do I have to complete “Online Check-In”?

Why do I have to complete “Online Check-In”?

1. To make sure the cruise line has your booking information correct, and that your name is spelled exactly as it appears on your legal documentation (legal first and last names only; middle names are not needed). If your name is not spelled correctly, you could be denied boarding without refund! Whet Travel is not responsible for denied boarding. Please contact us immediately with any name corrections.

2. To print your boarding pass and e-documents. You need to present this upon check-in at the pier. Your Whet Travel Invoice is NOT your ticket for boarding.

3. To expedite check-in. Completion of the required information in advance greatly expedites check-in at the port. The faster you can get through check-in, the sooner your Groove Cruise experience can begin!

How Many Pieces of Luggage Can I Bring Onboard?

How Many Pieces of Luggage Can I Bring Onboard?

There is no limit to how many bags you can bring onboard, however storage space in cabins is limited. All carry-on and checked bags will go through security.

Although the cruise line doesn’t limit the number or size of your luggage, your airline probably does! You should follow the baggage requirements of your airline in order to avoid access fees. We recommend on carry-on and one checked bag under 50 lbs. per person.

Should I Pack Important Things in my Luggage?

Should I Pack Important Things in my Luggage?

The cruise line makes every effort to deliver checked luggage to your cabin by 7:00 PM on embarkation day. We highly recommend that you carry valuables, medications, change of clothing and other important items in a carry-on bag.

To avoid the delivery of your luggage being delayed by security, do not pack wine, champagne, water or other liquids in your checked bags. Guests are prohibited from bringing alcohol onboard, and your luggage may be pulled for further inspection if they suspect alcohol is in your bags.

What Should I Pack/Not Pack?

What Should I Pack/Not Pack?

What Should I Pack?
Temperatures in most of our destinations range from an average low of 75 degrees to an average high of 95 degrees. So it is suggested that you pack lightweight, “resort casual” clothing — a few swimsuits, flip-flops, sandals or deck shoes for around the pool area, sneakers, walking shoes or hiking boots for shore trips, etc. If you like to exercise or participate in sports, bring any fitness clothing and footwear you may need. T-shirts, shorts, and/or bare feet are not permitted in the main dining rooms.

Some of the shows and activities will be taking place outdoors, and there is always the chance of it being windy, cool or even a little wet. So we suggest also packing some warmer clothing and light rain gear just to be on the safe side. Also be sure to bring your cameras, batteries and chargers, and enough film or memory cards to capture the entire event. And don’t forget ear plugs for the young ones (or yourself), sunscreen and lip balm.

You’ll also want to make sure you pack plenty of costumes for our Theme Parties!

2014 LA Groove Cruise Themes

2015 Miami Groove Cruise Themes

We recommend that you hand-carry all your travel documents (passports, birth certificates, airline tickets, etc.) medications, jewelry and any personal items that you may need in a separate carry-on bag. You should not put these items into checked luggage as they could become lost and prevent you from boarding the ship. Also, your luggage may take a few hours before it is delivered to your cabin.

On the last evening of your cruise your luggage will be collected for disembarkation the following morning. So you may want to pack a separate overnight bag to accommodate your last evenings’ clothes and sundries to carry off the ship with you.

What you shouldn’t pack
Groove Cruise Captains are not allowed to bring onboard the vessel any intoxicating liquors/beverages*, firearms, weapons of any kind, ammunition, explosive substances or any goods of a dangerous nature, nor animals of any kind, except service or guide animals, provided the passenger notifies Carrier prior to the cruise of his intention to bring such animal and agrees to take sole responsibility for any expense, damage, injuries or losses associated with or caused by such animal. All US and international laws pertaining to drug use should be respected, and will be strictly enforced. Please refer to our Zero Tolerance Policy and Terms and Conditions for more information.

Can I Bring My Own Alcohol Onboard?

Can I Bring My Own Alcohol Onboard?

All guests are prohibited from bringing alcohol on board The Groove Cruise.

They may, however, bring one bottle of wine and champagne onboard The Groove Cruise. A corkage fee will apply for each bottle brought onboard. The corkage fees and policies vary by cruise line.

2014 LA Groove Cruise / Princess Cruises’ Alcohol Policy
As provided in the Passage Contract, passengers agree not to bring alcoholic beverages of any kind onboard for consumption, except one bottle of wine or champagne per adult of drinking age (no larger than 750 ml) per voyage, which will not be subject to a corkage fee if consumed in the stateroom.

Additional wine or champagne bottles are welcome, but will incur a $15 corkage fee each, irrespective of where they are intended to be consumed. Liquor, spirits or beers are not permitted. Please remember that luggage will be scanned and alcohol outside of our policy will be removed and discarded.*

Alcoholic beverages that are purchased duty free from the ship’s gift shop, or at ports of call, will be collected for safekeeping and delivered to the passenger’s stateroom on the last day of the cruise.  A member of the ship’s staff will be at the gangway to assist passengers with the storage of their shoreside alcoholic purchases while our Boutiques staff will assist passengers with shipboard alcoholic purchases.

*Princess Cruises is not responsible for any alcoholic beverages removed and discarded by shoreside security staff. Such items are not eligible for monetary refund or replacement.

2015 Miami Groove Cruise / Norwegian Cruise Lines’ Alcohol Policy
With the exception of Wine and Champagne, all guests are prohibited from bringing alcohol on board any Norwegian Cruise Line ships. If you purchase any alcohol at one of our ports-of-call or in our onboard shops, we will safely store your purchase(s) and either on the final night of the cruise or the morning of debarkation it will be available for pick up in a designated area.

Guests may bring bottles of wine and champagne on board. When bottles are brought on board and served or consumed in any restaurant, public room area or in their stateroom, a corkage fee will be charged according to bottle sizes noted below.

750 ml Bottle: $15.00
1,500 ml Magnum: $30.00

Box wines are not allowed on board.

Passengers must be 21 years of age or older to purchase or consume alcohol onboard The Groove Cruise.

Whet Travel and our Cruise Line Partners encourage the responsible use of alcohol and accordingly reserves the right to permanently or temporarily revoke the drinking privileges of any guest who violates Whet Travel’s Zero Tolerance Police and the Cruise Line’s Guest Code of Conduct or who is deemed a danger to himself, herself or others by vessel management. Continued abuse of alcohol while sailing and/or violation of Carnival’s alcohol policy may result in immediate disembarkation.

Can I Smoke Onboard or in My Cabin?

Can I Smoke Onboard or in My Cabin?

The cruise lines have a strict smoking policy, which may vary by cruise line.

2014 LA Groove Cruise / Princess Cruises:

Designated Smoking Areas
Clearly marked “Designated Smoking Areas” are available onboard and include a sufficient number of ashtrays that are emptied regularly. Generally, these areas include cigar lounges, a section of the nightclub and casino, as well as a portion of the open decks. As a safety precaution, passengers are reminded to properly dispose of cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco, which are never to be thrown overboard as this may be sucked back into the ship and cause fires.

 Stateroom Smoking Policy Update
For all voyages departing after January 15th, 2012, Princess Cruises will prohibit smoking in passenger staterooms and balconies. This policy change reflects the preferences of a vast majority of our passengers who value having their primary living space (both stateroom and balcony) smoke-free. As balconies are a hallmark of Princess Cruises, we believe it is important to keep this peaceful space clear of smoke. Violations to this policy will result in a $250 fine for each occurrence, which will be charged to the passenger’s stateroom account. Keeping with the global trend toward more restrictive smoking policies and honoring the wishes of our passengers, we feel this change will enhance our onboard experience and do more to help our passengers escape completely.

Electronic Cigarettes
The use of electronic cigarettes is allowed within the confines of the passenger’s stateroom (balcony not included) and within designated smoking areas only.

2015 Miami Groove Cruise / Norwegian Cruise Line
Norwegian Cruise Line will institute changes to its smoking policy for all sailings on or after November 1, 2014. The specific changes prohibit smoking on stateroom balconies and limit smoking in the casino to players. Guests in the Garden Villas may smoke in their private garden and on their private sun decks.

Public areas throughout all our ships are smoke-free. If you smoke regular or electronic cigarettes, you can do so in designated areas only. If you prefer pipes or cigars, you can smoke in the Cigar Bar or designated smoking lounge. Smoking cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, cigars and pipes is permitted in outdoor public guest spaces and open decks where designated by the ship’s management based on the ship’s specific characteristics and arrangement. Smoking, including electronic cigarettes, is prohibited in or near venues serving food, the jogging track, outdoor sporting venues, The Haven outdoor areas and children’s pool areas.

Active Casino players may smoke cigarettes in the Casino during gaming hours. Cigarette smoking is not permitted in any other indoor venue or location,

Guests are not permitted to smoke cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars or pipes in their staterooms or on their balconies. Cigar and pipe smoking in staterooms and on balconies is prohibited. Smoking inside your stateroom or on your balcony will result in a $250 cleaning charge added to your onboard account. If cigarette burns on furniture, linens, towels or carpeting are detected; guests will be advised and charged for the damages.

Electronic cigarettes cannot be used in public areas where there is a No Smoking policy in force; simply because these cigarettes look so realistic and therefore other guests’ perception is that we are not enforcing the No Smoking rule.
